Silver titles captured

Four different schools earned Daily Pilot Cup Silver division titles

Sunday at the Costa Mesa Farm Sports Complex.

The Davis Elementary boys defeated Lincoln to win the fifth- and

sixth-grade boys final, while Eastbluff Elementary triumphed over St.

John the Baptist to claim the girls fifth- and sixth-grade Silver

division crown.

In the boys third- and fourth-grade Silver division final, Newport

Coast edged Andersen, 1-0.

St. Joachim defeated Andersen in the girls third- and fourth-grade

Silver division title clash.

More than 2,000 athletes representing 28 schools took part in the

sixth annual youth soccer tournament, which featured daily

competition Tuesday through Sunday.

Tournament Director Kirk McIntosh said the event continues to grow

and sponsors will continue to be sought for 2006 in order to pay for

referees.
