First-graders from Brownies Troop 332 at Hope View Elementary School

used some of the proceeds from their cookie sales to make stuffed

bears for the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. The Brownies

donated 14 bears in person to the hospital on May 10. The troop also

visited the nearby Ronald McDonald House and baked cookies for the

guests.

Huntington Beach community members will hold a car wash from 11

a.m. to 4 p.m. at the intersection of Bentley Lane and Basil in the

Seagate neighbor- hood, to benefit Herb Delaney, who remains in

critical condition after being severely burned in a recent oil-well

fire in Whittier. Donations from the car wash will go toward Delaney

Joshua Slaton, a 2002 graduate of Edison High School, graduated

from Basic Military Training in the United States Air Force in May.

Before entering the Air Force, Slaton attended college at Orange

Coast College and Santa Ana College. Slaton is currently attending

tech school at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
