Pats sign Stokes

Andy Stokes, the tight end from William Penn University who became

Mr. Irrelevant XXX, has signed a two-year contract with the New

England Patriots.

Stokes’ contract is worth $557,500 and includes a $17,500 signing

bonus, said Irrelevant Week spokesperson Melanie Fitch.

If he makes the team, Stokes will receive the NFL rookie minimum

of $230,000, then make $310,000 in 2006. He is the first the Patriots

seven draft picks to sign a contract.

Stokes finished his three-year collegiate career at William Penn

with 104 receptions, 1,578 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns.

Irrelevant Week XXX kicks off June 20 at 5 p.m. at the Newport

Dunes Resort.
