Here are some items the

council will consider tonight.

COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS

The council will vote on whether to approve new members for

several city committees.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council probably will approve the applicants, who have already

been vetted by an ad hoc committee of three council members.

CITY HALL RELOCATION

If the council agrees this fall to build a new City Hall, city

operations will have to be moved during construction. The council

will decide whether to use commercial real estate firm CB Richard

Ellis to look at where city offices might be moved so they can stay

functional.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council is likely to approve the agreement, since it doesn’t

cost anything and would only be effective if the city builds new

facilities. So far, the council has requested detailed designs for a

new City Hall with a parking garage and fire station, but the council

still must vote on spending the estimated $41.5-million construction

cost.

2005-06 BUDGET

A public hearing will be held on the $186.9-million budget that

has been proposed for the 2005-06 fiscal year, which begins July 1.

It includes $36.1 million in capital improvements and provides pretty

much the same services as the previous year with no major increases.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council won’t vote on the budget until June 28, but council

members will hear public comments and create a checklist of proposed

changes to discuss at the later meeting.

CLOSURE OF MARINAPARK

The council postponed a decision at its May 10 meeting on whether

to start legal proceedings to close the mobile home park at

Marinapark. The council’s choices were to begin working on closing

the park, which is expected to take at least a year and a half, or to

wait until a new use for the park is selected.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The city attorney recommends the council start proceedings to

close the park.
