Tivoli Maikalani Hudson, 14, of Newport Beachdaughter of Susie and

Ron Hudson, was chosen as a state finalist and participated in the

Miss California American Junior Teen Pageant from May 27 to 29, at

the Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles. This year’s pageant had 115 girls

in the Junior Teen division.

During the state pageant, she competed in two additional

competitions in which she was first runner-up for her original speech

and second runner-up for the Miss Photogenic competition.

Tivoli is an eighth-grade student at Mariner’s Christian School,

where she is on the drama team and was in a recent production of

“Peter Pan.” She is on the honor roll, the school volleyball team and

enjoys playing the guitar.

Tivoli has been invited to participate in the Miss American Junior

Teen Pageant in Orlando and Walt Disney World in Florida this

November.

Lauren Wade of Newport Beach graduated cum laude from the

University of San Diego on May 29. Wade earned a degree in

accounting. She was also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, the

Accounting Society and was a homecoming princess. Wade will begin

work at McGladrey and Pullen, a San Diego certified public accounting

firm, as an audit associate. She is a 2001 graduate from Newport

Harbor High School.

Alex Crawford of Newport Beach, who attends Ensign Intermediate

School, has been named an All-American Scholar. All scholars must

earn a minimum 3.3 grade-point average to be recognized. This honor

was given to Crawford by the United States Achievement Academy.

Katie Gaitan and Alan Giglio, both from Costa Mesa, were winners

in the 2005 Water is Life poster and slogan contest. Both students

attend St. Joachim Elementary School.

Fourth-grader Katie won for her poster and third-grader Alan was a

winner for his slogan. The Municipal Water District of Orange County

will recognize the students and their teachers at its June 14

meeting.
