Denise Harrelson, 14, of Huntington Beach, won second place in the

women’s championship strawberry shortcake eating contest on May 22 at

the OC Market Place in Costa Mesa. The contest was part of the sixth

annual Strawberry Sunday Funfest and Classic Car Show held in honor

of National Strawberry Month.

Tyler T. Malone, of Huntington Beach, also graduated as a Founders

Day Scholar from NYU May 12.

Robert J. Brady Jr., son of Huntington Beach residents Robert and

Celeste Brady, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at Colby

College in Waterville, Maine. Brady is a sophomore majoring in

government and English.

Erik E. Rechsteiner, of Huntington Beach, graduated as a Founders

Day Honors Scholar from New York University May 12. Founders Day Scholars are graduating seniors with a grade point average of 3.5 or

higher.
