Four members of the CIF Southern Section Division III co-champion

Corona del Mar High girls track and field team grabbed yet another

title Saturday, winning the distance medley relay at the Nike Outdoor

nationals in Greensboro, N.C.

The quartet of sophomore Sarah Cummings, senior Melissa Swigert,

freshman Allison Damon and 1,600-meter state champion Annie St. Geme,

a junior, clocked 11 minutes, 42.07 seconds, the fifth-fastest high

school time in meet history.

The event consists of legs of 1,200 meters, 400, 800 and 1,600.

St. Geme ran the 1,600 anchor leg in 4:49.

The foursome improved on the 11:51.66 it ran at the Arcadia

invitational in April, the first time they had competed in the event.

“There was much better competition which helped us run faster,”

St. Geme said Saturday. “We ended up running an almost perfect race.

I’m happy to end the season on a high note.”

Earlier in the day, sophomore Hilary May, Damon, Cummings and St.

Geme finished second in four-mile relay in 20:20.38.
