The rest of the world will have to wait until January 2006 to see
Newport Beach’s Rose Parade float, but you can see the float design
at a ceremonious unveiling Tuesday at Roger’s Gardens.
To celebrate Newport Beach’s 100th birthday -- officially on Sept.
1, 2006 -- the city has planned a year of activities that will kick
off this fall. The float design will be unveiled at 10 a.m. Tuesday
at Roger’s Gardens, 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road, Newport Beach. For

Councilmember to be picked Tuesday
Who will be the next member of the Newport Beach City Council?
Find out at a special meeting Tuesday, when six council members
choose among six candidates to replace Mayor Steve Bromberg, who left
the council to become an Orange County Superior Court judge. The
council also will decide how it will pick a new mayor.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at 3300
