Harbor View wins

The Harbor View swim team defeated community rival Newport Hills,

770-526, in a South Coast League dual meet June 11 at Newport Hills.

Harbor View’s Katie Craig (ages 7-8) captured three individual

wins in the 25-yard freestyle (15.37 seconds), 50 free (34.38) and 25

backstroke (18.55).

Craig combined with Kacie Kline, Emily Meckler and Tori English to

win in the 100 medley relay in 1:18.12.

Triple-winner Paige O’ Brien (ages 15-18) led Newport Hills in the

50 free (27.10), 50 breaststroke (37.02) and 50 butterfly (33.14).

Harbor View’s Katlin Kubas fought back with a double win in the 50

back (34.16) and 100 individual medley (1:16.65).

Harbor View dominated the 11-12 age division with double wins by

Victoria Gabert in the 50 breaststroke (37.63) and 100 IM (1:13.90),

as well as Margot Money in the 50 free (29.44) and 50 fly (32.08).

Gabert and Money also contributed to a 200 medley relay win along

with Sarah Craig and Pippa Saunders.

Harbor View’s Delaney Pouch (ages 9-10) won the 50 breaststroke in

42.03, the 100 IM in 1:17.44 and contributed to the 100 medley relay victory that included Ellen Naruse, Jules Pouch and Allison McCormick

(2:16.75).

Jules Pouch, Sydney Raguse, Regina Scholey and McCormick won the

200 free relay in 2:16.75.

Heather Van Hiel was another success for Harbor View (ages 13-14).

She won the 50 free (27.22) and 100 IM (1:08.81).

In the 6-and-under girls division, Newport Hills’ Madeline

Musselman was a double-winner in the 25 free (19.03) and 25

breaststroke (25.00).

Timmy Hanson was a triple-winner for Harbor View in the boys

6-and-under division, topping the field in the 25 breaststroke

(24.53), 25 butterfly (19.46) and 25 back (21.37).

Newport Hills’ David Linden was a dominant force in the 13-14 age

division, winning the 50 free in 24.29, the 50 butterfly in 27.63 and

50 back in 29.81.

Newport Hills’ Benjamin Zepfel (ages 9-10), won the 50 free

(31.56), 25 fly (15.62), 100 IM (1:21.05) and, along with Christian

Garkani, Nick Furgatch and Alex Wilde, the 200 medley relay

(1:07.29).

Jeff Condino, representing Newport Hills in the ages 11-12

division, won the 50 free (27.87) and 50 butterfly (32.43), while

Harbor View’s Matt Berry was also a double-winner in the 50 back

(35.22) and 100 IM (1:15.68).

The Harbor View boys continued their domination as Justin Hanson,

Brett Schisler, Ricky Zak and Hoyt Crance won the 100 medley relay in

1:13.62, and Schisler, Zak, Crance and Cameron Hook (ages 7-8) won

the 100 free relay in 1:06.35.

Hanson was a winner in the 25 butterfly in 16.94 and the 25 back

in 19.18, while Zak was a winner in the 25 breaststroke (21.01) and

Crance claimed the 25 free (15.58).

Harbor View’s Tom Money and Kyle McGhie (ages 15-18) were winners in the 50 back (29.18) and 100 IM (1:08.17), respectively. Money and

McGhie teamed with Eric Cox and Ryan Kent to win the 200 free relay

in 1:41.27.
