Mikimoto at South Coast Plaza is celebrating Pearl Month with the

introduction of a beautiful, limited-edition animal collection,

featuring six exotic brooches centered by a unique Baroque cultured

pearl. Each design is also enhanced by diamonds or sapphires.

The animal collection represents Mikimoto’s creativity in couture

jewelry design. The collection features a Baroque white South Sea

pearl snail set in 18-karat white gold with diamonds; a Baroque black

South Sea pearl frog set in 18-karat yellow gold and platinum with

diamonds and colored sapphires; a Baroque black South Sea pearl

seahorse set in platinum with diamonds and blue sapphires; a pair of

golden Keishi penguins set in 18-karat yellow gold and platinum with

diamonds; a Baroque white South Sea pearl crane set in platinum with

diamonds and pink sapphires; and a white South Sea pearl swan set in

18-karat white gold with diamonds.

The one-of-a-kind animal brooches range from $17,000 to $48,000.

A European Summer Art Festival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m.

HART TO HART

Lahaina Galleries at Fashion Island is presenting works by

sculptor Frederick Hart through June 30. A reception for Hart’s work

will be held Monday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Hart’s portrait and his sculpture “Songs of Grace” will go in the

Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia, this year. Lindy Hart recently

accepted a prize on behalf of her late husband from President Bush in

the White House.

The government awarded Hart with the National Medal of the Arts.

Hart’s most famous work includes his dramatic stone carvings at

the entrance to the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and the

Three Soldiers Vietnam Memorial across from the Wall of Names.
