The following is from the June 14 meeting of the Laguna Beach Unified

School District Board of Education:

Grant of easement to

city for sidewalk use

The board unanimously voted to approve a grant of easement to the

city of Laguna Beach for sidewalk usage on Wilson Street near Laguna

Beach High School.

WHAT IT MEANS

The approval of the grant easement will provide the city with the

necessary land to construct a sidewalk around Laguna Beach High

School. The sidewalk will improve the safety of students and

community members.

Increase for transit, food service programs

The board unanimously voted to approve an annual cost-of- living

increase for home-to-school transportation and food services

programs.

WHAT IT MEANS

Due to a lack of state and federal funding, both the

home-to-school transportation and the food service programs have

historically cost more than what is received from the district’s

sources of revenue.

In order for these programs to become more self-sustaining,

attaching an annual cost-of-living fee will alleviate the burden on

the general fund.

The next Laguna Beach Board of Education meeting will be at 7 p.m.

June 28 at the District Office, 550 Blumont St. For more information,
