District seeking textbook comments

The Laguna Beach Unified School District is displaying the

following textbooks for public review at the district offices, 550

Blumont Street. The books will be available for comment and review

until July 12. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday

through Friday.

* World Geography: Building a Global Perspective, 2005, Prentice

Hall;

* World History: Modern Times; California Edition, 2006, Glencoe,

McGraw Hill;

* The Western Heritage Since 1300, 8th edition, 2004, Pearson,

Prentice Hall;

* The American Vision: Modern Times; California edition, 2006,

Glencoe, McGraw Hill;

* The American Pageant: a History of the Republic 13th edition,

2006, Houghton Mifflin College Div.;

* Economics: Principles in Action, 2005, Prentice Hall;

* Magruders American Government, 2004 Pearson, Prentice Hall; and

* American Government: Institutions and Policies, 9th edition,

2004, Houghton Mifflin.

Amanda Carlyle earns law degree

Amanda E. Carlyle, a 1998 graduate of Laguna Beach High School,

has received her juris doctor degree from the UCLA School of Law. She

received her undergraduate degree, with honors, from UCLA in 2001.

After taking the summer Bar Exam, Carlyle will move to San

Francisco, where she has accepted a position as an associate attorney

with the law firm of Miller, Starr & Regalia.

Library screens

‘Chocolate’ film

The library will give children 7 to 12 a chance to watch a movie,

have fun and swirl fruit in melted chocolate from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Friday, July 8 to celebrate Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate

Factory.”
