JUNE 6 -- SEPT. 23

Registration for the 2005 Youth Flag Football, for boys and girls

ages 8 to 13. The program starts on Sept. 26 and ends on Dec. 3. This

program provides youth in the community the opportunity to

participate in a noncompetitive Flag Football league. Participants

will learn the basics of Flag Football, meet new friends and have

fun.

Register in person Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the

Balearic Community Center, 1975 Balearic Drive, Costa Mesa.

Registration closes on Sept. 23. Registration is taken on a

JUNE 27 -- AUG. 6

The 2005 Summer Playground Program is being offered at three

locations in Costa Mesa. The program is offered Monday through Friday

from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Balearic Community Center, Downtown

Recreation Center, and Wakeham Park.

This is a free drop-in recreational program, designed for children

ages 6 to 12. Recreation Leaders are available at each site to

provide games, sports, arts and crafts, and other fun summer

activities in a safe and positive environment.

Some local fee-based excursions will be planned throughout the

summer. Children are not required to sign-in or out and may come and

SEPT. 2

Girls Incorporated of Orange County offers two summer programs to

teach girls to become strong, smart, and bold. The program for girls

4 1/2 to 12 years old. The full-day program includes weekly field

trips and optional daily trips, plus age-appropriate classes

including economic literacy, science, math, computers, sports, arts

and crafts, cultural exploration, the Girls’ Bill of Rights, and

personal safety.

A Eureka! Program us offered for girls entering the 7th, 8th and

9th grades, which gives girls the opportunity to enjoy a sense of

achievement and exposes them to economic literacy, science and

technology through fun, hands-on activities.

Girls participate in sports activities that promote teamwork and

that challenge each girl to give her best. Girls Inc. is located at

1815 Anaheim St., Costa Mesa. There is a one-time $40 registration

fee and a $100 weekly fee. The registration fee for the Eureka!
