Locals earn medals

The Balboa Bay Club Quicksilver 17-year-old boys volleyball team

earned a silver medal at the USA Junior Olympic championships that

concluded Wednesday at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in

Louisville, Ky.

Both the 16-year-old team and 14-year-olds earned bronze medals.

All three of the teams competed against squads from Hawaii and Puerto

Rico.

Included on the 17-year-old team are: Sean Tyrell-Grubbs, Marcus

Fernandez, Derek Bunker, Robby Stowell, Conor Eaton, Cory Yoder, Kent

Kraushaar, James Prietto, Drew Bruns, Kenny Webster, Brent Cossairt

and Jordan Walker.

Included on the 16-year-old team are: Chad Stassel, Spencer Brown,

Gus Ellis, Scott Liljestrom, Phil Darin, Weston Dunlap, Philip

Bannan, Kyle Caldwell, Josh Laurel, Andrew Speth, Blaine Nielsen,

Tucker Peleuses and Matthew Helfrich.

Included on the 14-year-old team are: Seth Morris, Michael

Helrick, Harrison Carroll, Conor Bannan, Michael Maddox, Riley Paone,

Trent Bruns, Drew Russell, Connor Hughes, Andrew Morrow, Bayle Smith

and J.B. Green.
