Francis and Janice Sullivan of Newport Beach...

Francis and Janice Sullivan of Newport Beach recently celebrated

their 62nd wedding anniversary.

The couple lived across the street from each other growing up, and

Francis used to walk Janice to high school every day. After being

friends for several years, they began dating and eventually got

married. They have lived in Newport almost 30 years.

Navy Ensign Joseph P. Snelgrove, son of Jo Anne and John E.

Snelgrove of Newport Beach, recently graduated from the United States

Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned to his current

rank in the United States Navy.

Snelgrove, a 2001 graduate of Newport Harbor High School,

successfully completed four years of intensive academic, physical and

professional training, resulting in a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Coast Guard Seaman Michael T. Bigalke, son of Rikki J. Yeager of

North Charleston, S.C., and Timothy D. Bigalke of Costa Mesa,

recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center

in Cape May, N.J.

During the eight-week training program, Bigalke completed a

vigorous training curriculum consisting of academics and practical

instruction on water safety and survival, military customs and

courtesies, seamanship skills, first aid, firefighting and

marksmanship.
