o7Here are some items the council considered Monday.f7

BUDGET TALKS

The City Council reviewed the city’s annual budget and agreed to

set a formal budget hearing for Sept 12.

WHAT IT MEANS

The council is considering approving the budget recommended by

Penny Culbreth-Graft, but it could make changes to the document,

including increasing the amount of taxes and fees it charges, or

reducing the number of public services available.

Councilman Keith Bohr said he has a list of projects -- including

a revitalization of an unkept road along Edinger Avenue and new beach

facilities on the pier and near dog beach -- he would like to see

funded by the council.

SPORTS COMPLEX GATE

The council approved a proposal to open a gate between the Sports

Complex and the Huntington Beach library, separating a paid parking

lot from a free one.

Councilmen Dave Sullivan and Gil Coerper brought the measure

forward in the hopes that weekend traffic would generate more revenue

for the Stadium Club, the food vendor at the Sports Complex.

WHAT IT MEANS

Staff will monitor the situation to determine if it has a negative

effect on library parking and if the city loses revenue from the

deal. The council will look at the issue again in six months.
