Tie One On grosses $13,200

The Festival of Arts 5th annual Tie One On benefit for the

Artist’s in Need Fund Saturday grossed $13,200 with 100% of the

proceeds going to the cause. More than 120 Festival of Arts artists

participated -- each were given a white tie as a canvas to create an

original piece of artwork to be auctioned. Scott Moore’s “White

Collar Tie” brought in the most money at $800.

Lynn and Ray Long, in memory of Helen Weld, sold a Helen Weld

painting from their collection to donate to the artist fund. Weld, a

16-year Festival exhibitor, renowned for her brilliant and whimsical

work, died in 2003.

Buyers came to the auction from Los Angeles, Encino, Beverly

Hills, Pasadena, San Diego, Long Beach and throughout Orange County.

“Tie-one-on was a great success; many of our members, exhibitors

and patrons participated in the event,” Sharbie Higuchi, Festival of

Arts Marketing and Public Relations Director said. “It demonstrates

the strong support for the artists community.”
