General manager named to Graciela hotel

Graciela Burbank hotel named Shawn L. Gracey its new general

manager, the company said in a news release Tuesday.

Gracey most recently worked as general manager Le Merigot, a JW

Marriott Beach Hotel and Spa, a four-diamond hotel in Santa Monica.

Gracey also worked as director of revenue and sales at the Hilton

Universal City and Towers.

He will succeed Jerome Strack as general manger.

Graciela Burbank opened in March 2002 and is one of the hotels

developed by Robert Zarnegin, of Graciela Hotels & Resorts, LLC’s,

which was also behind the development of the Peninsula Beverly Hills.

Graciela Burbank is at 322 N. Pass Ave., and means “divine grace”

Warner Bros. takes on M. Night Shyamalan film

M. Night Shyamalan, director of “The Village,” “Signs” and “The

Sixth Sense,” has begun production on “Lady in the Water,” starring

Paul Giamatti and Bryce Dallas Howard, with Warner Bros., studio

officials announced on Monday.

The film is the story of a building manager who rescues a

mysterious young woman from danger and discovers she is a character

from a bedtime story trying to get back to her story world. The film

will be released worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and will film on

location in Philadelphia.
