SAILING CLASSES

An advanced marine weather class is being offered by Orange Coast

College’s School of Sailing and Seamanship. The six-week course takes

an in-depth look at high- and low-pressure systems and the evolution

of hurricanes and thunderstorms. The class meets Thursdays from 7 to

9 p.m., Sept. 15 through Oct. 20, at the college’s sailing center,

1801 West Coast Highway, Newport Beach. Registration is $85.

A basic cruising class is being offered by Orange Coast College’s

School of Sailing and Seamanship. This course is designed for people

who have completed basic keelboat certification but have little or no

experience running a midsize auxiliary cruising boat. Classes will

meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 17 through Oct. 22.

Registration is $550. A shorter version of the class will meet from 9

a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, Sept. 11 through 25. Both will meet at the

college’s sailing center, 1801 West Coast Highway, Newport Beach.

An intermediate Lidos class is being offered by the School of

Sailing and Seamanship. A beginning sailing class should be completed

before taking this course. Classes will meet Fridays from 12:30 to 5

p.m., Sept. 16 through Oct. 7, at the college’s sailing center, 1801

West Coast Highway, Newport Beach. Registration is $129. Information:
