CALIFORNIA RETIRED TEACHERS ASSN.

The California Retired Teachers Assn., Harbor Division #77, will

hold a meeting for members and prospective members at 12:30 p.m. at

the Costa Mesa Community Center, 1845 Park Ave., Costa Mesa. Includes

COSTA MESA SENIOR CENTER

The Costa Mesa Senior Center is located at 695 19th St. West,

A transitions support group -- for people going through life

changes, loneliness, relationship problems, grieving over the loss of

a loved one, medical issues and health problems -- meets from 1 p.m.

to 3 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

A widows and widowers support group meets from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

every Wednesday.

A diabetes discussion group, which provides support for diabetics

and their caregivers, meets at 10 a.m. every Friday. The group

focuses on topics such as dietary concerns, the complications of

diabetes such as neuropathy, diabetic eye problems and the emotional

barriers involved with having diabetes.

Ballroom dancing, featuring live music by Betty’s Trio, is from

7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Cost is $4.

A blood pressure clinic is held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. every

Tuesday -- nurses are available to take blood pressure readings, no

appointment necessary.

Functional senior fitness class -- designed to maintain the

ability to successfully perform activities of daily living and to

improve or enhance functional capacity in terms of strength,

flexibility and posture -- is held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. every

Wednesday.

Low impact aerobics -- designed to fit the personal health and

fitness needs of older adults -- is held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. every

Monday and Friday

OASIS SENIOR CENTER

The Oasis Senior Center is located at 800 Marguerite Ave., Corona

Telephone Reassurance available from the Oasis Senior Center for

seniors who have a limited local support system and would like daily

telephone contacts.

Transportation services are offered by the Oasis Senior Center to

take members to appointments, grocery shopping, and to the Center.

Visual aid screenings with a Braille Institute representative

offered at Oasis Senior Center for people with limited vision. By

Walking group meets once a week at Oasis Senior Center to enjoy

scenic walks in and around the Newport Beach area.

Blood pressure screenings conducted at Oasis Senior Center from 9

a.m. to 11 a.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month in Room 3.

The Braille Institute offers free seminars on the first Thursday

of each month to help those with limited vision live more

independently; from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Room 4.

Advance health care directives are available at the Oasis Senior

Preventive healthcare services are offered at the Oasis Senior

Center by an Eldercare nurse from the Orange County Health Department

An art appreciation class offered at Oasis focuses on California
