Big ‘Little’ Production

“Little Women -- The Broadway Musical” opens at the Orange County

Performing Arts Center on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Based on the novel by

Louisa May Alcott, the production tells the story of four sisters at

the end of the Civil War.

Winged Migration

Help our most delicate winged friends by volunteering to renovate

the butterfly habitat at the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve.

Helpers are needed to build a new butterfly trail. Volunteers will

work in two shifts, either 9 a.m. to noon or noon to 3 p.m. They

should wear old clothes, closed-toe shoes and work gloves.

The Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve is at 2301 University Drive,

Time To Start Running

State Sen. John Campbell will kick off the eighth annual Pacific

Coast Triathlon at 7 a.m. with a tribute to the heroes of Sept. 11.

After the three-part race, which raises money for local schools

and youth-oriented charities, Orange County supervisor Bill Campbell

will be among the keynote speakers at a 10 a.m. award ceremony. The

event takes place at Crystal Cove State Park.
