Back-to-school nights are scheduled

Back-to-school nights will be held as follows: high school, 6:30

p.m. Sept. 14; El Morro Elementary School, 6 p.m. Sept. 21 for

kindergarten through third grade and 6 p.m. Sept. 22 for fourth and

fifth grades; Top of the World Elementary School, 6 p.m. Sept. 22 for

preschool and kindergarten classes, 6:30 p.m. for first and second

grades and the Community Learning Center, and 7:15 p.m. for fourth,

fifth and sixth grades; Thurston Middle School, 6:45 p.m. Sept. 29.

Board of Education meeting

The next Laguna Beach Unified School District Board of Education

meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the district office board

room, 550 Blumont St. Meetings are open to the public.

Issues to be discussed at Tuesday’s meeting include:

* approval of an independent contract with Berlitz to provide

foreign language instruction for the elementary schools;

* contracted services for special education;

* independent contract for technology training;

* kindergarten through third-grade class size reduction program

application; and

* inter-district attendance agreements.
