BURROUGHS VS.

VERDUGO HILLS

* WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday.

* RECORDS: The Indians are 1-0; the Dons are 0-1.

* LAST WEEK: Burroughs defeated Schurr, 30-14; Verdugo Hills lost

to Granada Hills Kennedy, 37-6.

* OUTLOOK: Burroughs has made it a habit the past few years of

starting out well in the nonleague portion of its schedule. That was

the case again in this season’s opener last week against a ranked

Schurr team. The Indians will take on a Verdugo Hills’ team from the

L.A. City Section that plays in the Sunset Six League. The only

points the Dons were able to score in their opener was on a

fourth-quarter kickoff return by Bryce Freemon. Burroughs had its

offense working last week behind senior quarterback Tony Banuelos Jr.

and senior running back Thomas Kyle.

* SOMETHING INTERESTING: The Indians play six CIF ranked teams in

the last nine weeks of the season.
