SURF STYLE

At the Festival of Children at South Coast Plaza, surf artist Drew

Brophy will show kids how to paint a surfboard on Saturday at 3 p.m.

in the Carousel Court.

Brophy, a professional artist, is most known for his off-the-wall

surfboard designs. He’s painted thousands of scenes while traveling

the globe and surfing in exotic locations.

The San Clemente artist also illustrates children’s books and

designs tiki sculptures, wakeboards and toys.

At Brophy’s event, you can purchase T-shirts, stickers and prints,

with a portion of the proceeds going to the Festival of Children

FIREFIGHTERS, T-SHIRTS, DENIM

Stop by Bloomingdale’s at Fashion Island on Saturday to meet some

hot designers, enjoy savings on apparel, and watch a Newport Beach

firefighters fashion show at 3 p.m., benefiting the American Red

Cross. And you can visit the Bloomingdale’s Home Store to find

discounts throughout on bed, bath, kitchen accessories and more.

Local heroes will step on the runway wearing fall’s hottest

fashions in the Bloomingdale’s Courtyard. And 10% of proceeds from

purchases made in the men’s department will go the American Red

Cross.

In the Y.E.S. department on Level 3, you can meet T-shirt designer

Amy Tan, and Antik Denim designers, Philippe Maouri and Alex Caugant,

from 2 to 4 p.m.

Tan will sign purchases of her Amy Tangerine line, and you’ll

receive a soy travel candle with any two Amy Tangerine T-shirts.

Maouri and Caugant will also sign purchases and will offer denim

fit advice. You’ll receive a free T-shirt with an Antik denim

purchase, while supplies last. Purchase two pairs of jeans and you’ll

receive 20% off the third pair of jeans or twill in the Y.E.S.

department (some designers excluded).

EYE THE HAWAIIAN SELECTIONS BY HILL

Hawaii’s free flowing impressionist, Darrell Hill, will be at

Lahaina Galleries at Fashion Island showing his latest works Saturday

from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hill’s landscapes feature the backdrops of Kona to the horizons of

Waimea and the shores of Mauna Lani. His works are inspired by the

ageless beauty of Hawaii, as well as the carefree life. He also

paints dogs, Hawaiian slippers and retro bikes.
