Game highlights: Bowman was a strong offensive leader in a 38-13

win over host La Quinta. The sophomore accounted for 225 yards of

offense, including 160 in the air. He scored on a 46-yard run in the

first quarter.

Coach’s comments: “This guy has been running the ball like Michael

Vick,” Jimmy Nolan said. “He turns our poor blocking into big plays.

The guy scrambled once during a broken play and turned it into a

50-yard touchdown, making all 11 La Quinta defenders miss on his way

to the end zone. He took some huge hits after throwing the football,

all game long. I appreciate his toughness and willingness to take a

hit to get the extra yard, but we need this guy healthy. Thus, he

needs to learn how to run out of bounds and/or slide. He was a great

leader both games thus far. Needless to say, we are really thankful

this kid is a member of our team. He displays the toughness and

courage we need to upset some opponents this season. Hopefully his

leadership, character and toughness will start to rub off on others.”
