NEW FIRE CHIEFS UNIT CONTRACT

The City Council will vote on approval of a new one-year contract

with the Chief Officers Unit of Burbank Fire Fighters Local No. 778.

The contract calls for a 4.5% salary increase for the five battalion

chiefs and one fire marshal. The current monthly salary range for

those positions ranges from $8,822 to $10,718. With the increase that

range will go up to $9,219 to $11,200. The increase will cost the

city’s general fund $47,700.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council will most likely approve the contract.

TRAFFIC STUDY SESSION

The City Council will have a study session on traffic and

transportation issues. A report will be presented by city staff on

using a time-based intensity-measurement standard to calculate the

amount of vehicle trips new development will generate based on its

use -- commercial, office or residential -- and size. The session

will also include discussion on neighborhood centers -- collections

of small businesses, and possibly residential space, meant to serve

an immediate area -- around the city.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The council will give direction to staff on implementing the new

traffic standard.
