SATURDAY

Save our Strays’ Annual Pancake Breakfast is an event for the

whole family, both two-legged and four-legged. There will be gift

certificates and raffle prizes and many vendors offering pet related

products and services. Also, Orange County Animal Care Services will

hold pet adoptions for dogs and cats who need a loving home. The

breakfast will be held at Lake Park at 1000 Main Street, from 8 a.m.

to noon.

Take the Great Earth Walk with the Bolsa Chica Land Trust.

Numerous nonprofit environmental organizations will participate in

this event, held in conjunction with National Public Lands Day. The

Bolsa Chica is a 1,700-acre coastal ecosystem made up of wetlands,

lowlands, and mesas. It is home to over 200 species of birds, many of

which are threatened or endangered species. The 2 1/2 -hour walk will

emphasize animal life, plant life, and local history and is ideal for

children as well as adults. The hike is on a flat dirt trail and is a

three-mile round-trip around the wetlands.

Hikers need to meet at 8:30 in the parking lot of the Bolsa Chica

Ecological Reserve on Warner Avenue, just east of Pacific Coast

Highway. Wear appropriate shoes and attire.

Become a notary public in one day and learn how to pass the

required exam. This workshop will provide you with everything you

need to know about California notary laws and procedures, including

step-by-step notarizations, identifying document signers, how to

avoid lawsuits and how to pass the exam. Also learn how to market

yourself as a notary, set fees and maximize earning potential. Cost

of the class is $85 plus a $20 materials fee. The class is from 8
