CdM swims through Edison

The Corona del Mar High’s boys water polo defeated visiting Edison,

13-8, in a nonleague match Wednesday evening. The Sea Kings were led

by Tom Money and Jacob Murphy with three goals each. Netminder

Phillip DiGiacomo contributed eight saves in the victory.

CdM (4-5) visits Los Alamitos Friday in a nonleague match.

OCC still unbeaten

* VOLLEYBALL: The Orange Coast College women’s volleyball team

defeated host Mt. SAC, 30-25, 30-18, 30-20, Wednesday to move to 6-0

in the nonconference season.

Brittney Ray and Joanna Johnson led the way with 10 kills each.

Caitlin Parker tallied 34 assists and Ashlee Moon added 17 digs for

the Pirates, who open conference play Friday night at home against

Cypress.

Eagles lead league

* TENNIS: Estancia High’s girls tennis team won its third league

match Wednesday. The Eagles crushed Ocean View on the road, 16-2.

Estancia won all nine doubles matches. Sage O’Toole and Cathy Pittman

won their matches in straight sets.

Estancia (6-2, 3-0) plays Friday at Westminster.

Estancia 16, Ocean View 2 Singles -- Adles def. Cecil 6-4, def. Miller 6-0, def. T.Le 6-0;

Morton (Est) lost 6-2, won 6-1, 6-2; Stratton (Est) lost 6-1, won

Lightning strikes JSerra

* VOLLEYBALL: Sage Hill School’s girls volleyball team won at

JSerra in nonleague play, 25 -14, 25-16, 25-18. Haywood Wright led

Sage (11-8) with 10 kills on the night.

Sailors lose to Chargers

* GOLF: The Newport Harbor High girls golf team remained winless,

falling to Edison, 233-273, Wednesday at the Santa Ana Country Club.

Kendall Horn led the way by shooting a 46. Tiffany Kim finished with

a 50 and Iko Kagasoff shot a 52 for the Sailors (0-6).

Costa Mesa cruises

* TENNIS: The Costa Mesa High girls tennis team defeated

Saddleback, 18-0, in Golden West League action Wednesday at Costa

Mesa High. Evelyn Wallace moved to 11-1 this season by winning her

singles sets, 6-1, 6-1, 6-2.

The doubles team of Jasmine Mathieson and Alex Garcia dropped just

one game in sweeping their three sets. Costa Mesa moved to 3-3

overall and 2-2 in league.

Eagles fall short

* GOLF: The Estancia High girls golf team, fresh off a victory

over Golden West League rival Costa Mesa Tuesday, defeated Huntington

Beach, 227-238, Wednesday at the Mesa Linda course.

Estancia’s Lina You, who was the medalist, shot a 39, while

Bridget Gleason shot a 44 and Taylor West a 46. The Eagles (9-2) face

Orange Tuesday.

Lions lose in Fresno

* SOCCER: The Vanguard University men’s soccer team fell to host

Fresno Pacific, 4-2, Wednesday. James Grigas and Mariano Salcedo

netted goals for the Lions, who move to 4-4-1 this year.

William Johnson had six saves in goal for Vanguard.
