Shift for Breakers in CIF rankings

There was a slight shift in the rankings for five Laguna Beach

High fall sports teams in the CIF-Southern Section polls released

Monday.

The changes came in girls’ tennis and boys’ water polo.

The girls’ tennis team, ranked third last week, dropped a spot to

No. 4 in the Division I poll. The Breakers trail No. 1 Calabasa,

Peninsula and their Pacific Coast League rival, Corona del Mar.

The boys’ water polo team was eighth in last week’s Division I

poll but comes in at No. 10 in the latest rankings.

Things remain status quo for the school’s cross-country teams.

Laguna’s boys’ cross-country team held onto the No. 2 spot in

Division IV behind top-ranked Orange Lutheran. The girls’ cross

country is No. 4 in a Division IV poll. Orange Lutheran,

Harvard/Westlake and Paraclete again rank ahead of the Breakers.

The girls’ volleyball team again is ranked fourth in the new

Division IV-AA poll. As was the case last week, the Breakers rank

behind No. 1 Marymount, Sacred Heart and La Salle.
