Laguna youth tennis teams score victories

Local squads down Racquet Club of Irvine opponents.The Laguna Beach Breakers 14-and-under Junior Tennis team defeated the visiting Racquet Club of Irvine, winning in total games, 52-25.

Benito Romeo, playing at No. 1 boys’ singles, lost a tough 6-5 match that went to a tiebreaker.

Also in boys’ singles, the Breakers’ Fareed Ahmed and Teague Hamilton won by scores of 6-4 and 6-3, respectively.

In girls’ singles action, Laguna’s top player, Natasha Boulad rolled to a 6-0 win. McKenna Nokes, playing at No. 2, won 6-4, and No. 3 Alison Azera won, 6-0, on a default.

The boys’ doubles team of Romeo and Ahmed lost a close match, rallying from a 5-1 deficit only to fall by a score of 6-5.

Boulad and Azera teamed to win their girls’ doubles match for Laguna, 6-2.

In other Junior Tennis action:

The Breakers’ 12-and-under intermediate team won all but two of its matches and defeated the Racquet Club of Irvine, 39-34.

Singles winners for Laguna included No. 1 Gian Salvini (6-4), Beau Heussenstamm (6-2), Dino Romeo (6-3), Kate Rogers (2-6), Kira Hamilton (6-4) and Sophia Lavin (6-0, default).

Winning in doubles play for Laguna were the teams of Salvini/Heussenstamm (6-4) and Lavin/Rogers (6-0, default).
