Eagles fly past Hawks

Girls tennis wrap for Wed.Estancia moves one step closer to Golden West League championship with 12-6 triumph Tuesday over Ocean View.The Estancia High girls tennis team moved one step closer to the Golden West League title with a 12-6 victory over Ocean View Tuesday at Estancia High.

The doubles team of Cathy Pittman and Sage O’Toole dropped just two games in sweeping their three sets. The team of Sarah Muradian and Krizia Tonin lost just three games in their three-set sweep.

Heather Morton and Sara Stratton took two of three sets each in singles.

The Eagles improved to 12-2 overall and 9-0 in the Golden West League. They host Westminster, which has only one loss in league, Thursday in what could determine the league title.

Tars 6-0 in league

* Newport Harbor High team beat host Laguna Hills, 13-5, in a Sea View League match Tuesday. The Sailors (14-2, 6-0 in league) won all nine doubles sets over the Hawks. Sasha Dunlap and Chrissy Schwartz lost only four games on the day, winning 6-1, 6-0, 6-3.

Sage routs Warriors

* Sage Hill School won an Academy League match, 17-1, Tuesday at Brethren Christian. The duo of Juniors Salen Andrews and Carissa Cummings didn’t lose a game on the day, winning, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.

The Lightning (12-2, 7-0 in league), ranked No. 1 in CIF Division V, will host Oxford Academy on Friday.

Corona del Mar rolls

* The Corona del Mar High won a Pacific Coast League match Tuesday at home, 12-6, over Northwood. The Sea Kings won all nine doubles sets. Heather and Miranda Young teamed up to win their sets, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1.

CdM (13-2, 8-0 in league) will face Tesoro Thursday at home.
