H.B. takes down Bears

Shaun McLaughlin rushed for two touchdowns and Stephen Andrew threw for two more scores to lead the Huntington Beach Chargers past the Saddleback Valley Golden Bears, 32-6, in a Pop Warner Football Midget Division game.

McLaughlin’s second touchdown run of the game covered 65 yards. He also came up with a big interception.

Andrew threw his two touchdown passes in the first half -- the first a 45-yard pass play to Jake Machado, the second a scoring pass to Luke Gane.

Woody Cash scored on a touchdown run in the second half for the Chargers.

Jr. Pee Wee Division

White Chargers 20, Saddleback Valley 0

The White Chargers opened up a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and rolled from there in clinching the division championship.

Gold Chargers 33, Saddleback Valley 0

The Gold Chargers defense recorded its fifth shutout in six games in routing the Golden Bears.

Trevor Borkowski scored twice -- once on a 50-yard punt return -- Ryan Finnie scored a pair of touchdowns, and Ryan Loya also reached the end zone as the Gold Chargers bolted to a 33-0 halftime lead.

Borkowski and Thomas Firmin had sacks on defense.

The Gold Chargers open play in the Division II playoffs Saturday against an opponent to be determined.

Mighty Mite Division

Chargers 34, Tustin 0

Huntington Beach bounced back from its first loss of the season to pummel the Tustin Cobras.

The Chargers, who lost last week to undefeated Santa Margarita, improved their record to 6-1.

Steve Hernandez, Robert Rice and Philip Knapp each scored touchdowns for the Dolphins, and extra points were scored by Hernandez, Mason Duffey, Shad Harris and Tyler Clay.

Chris Provost and Jared Fuga provided key blocks along the Chargers’ offensive line, and linebackers Noah Nabors and Frank McManus Jr. led the defense.

Huntington hosts the Anaheim Wolfpack at 9 a.m. Saturday at Edison High.

Pee Wee Division

Gold Chargers 22, Stanton 0

Richard Brown and Jake Strickler rushed for touchdowns, and the Gold Chargers defense posted a shutout against the Raiders. Huntington ended division play with a 3-3 record.

Green Chargers 36, North Long Beach 7

The Green Chargers closed out their regular season by taming the Panthers. Huntington enters Saturday’s playoffs with a 6-0-1 record.
