The Rotary Club of Costa Mesa is coordinating the Halloween Spooktacular on Oct. 29 for children in Families Costa Mesa, Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter and Mika, according to Rotarian Kathy Haze.

Rotarians will decorate a car and provide treats for the children for the Trick or Trunking. Helping to sponsor Spooktacular are A Light In Window and the Center for Spiritual Discovery. The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at 2850 Mesa Verde Dr., Costa Mesa. According to Haze, also participating will be teen groups from St. Mark Presbyterian Church, Newport Harbor Lutheran Church, Costa Mesa, Estancia, Santa Margarita and Back Bay High Schools.

HELPING IN THE PARK AND PROMOTING WORLD PEACE

Harbor Mesa Lions volunteered to help sell refreshments at the recent “Lounge Chair Theater” held in Fairview Park. Funds raised from this event go to help the “Friends of Fairview Park” committee with their improvements in the park.

VISIT FRANCE FOR FOUR WEEKS ON ROTARY

If you are a business or professional person between 25 and 40, who is not related to a Rotarian, you could be selected for an experience of a lifetime -- an all-expenses-paid trip to the South of France from March 25 through April 22, according to Terry Rousselot, president of the Rotary Club of Newport-Balboa. A team of four members will be selected on Nov. 19 by an interview process. For each team member, The Rotary Foundation provides the most economical round-trip air ticket between the home and host countries. More information and applications are available at www.Rotary.org. Applications are due to Ken Montgomery, GSE Chair by Nov. 17. Montgomery can be reached at (949) 362-4339 or by e-mail at kmontgomery@ci.laguna-niguel.ca.us.

WORTH REPEATING

A Daily Pilot reader stopped me the other day at the Pilot office at 17th and Santa Ana and said how much she enjoyed “Worth Repeating” in my column. She said she clipped and saved them for inspiration and motivation. Greg Kelley, a member of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and Interfaith Council Board member, supplies them on a daily basis. If you would like to be on Kelley’s distribution list for Thought for the Day, e-mail him at NDGJK@aol.com. It is a great way to start the day!
