Lions honor Hutton

Hutton is Lion of Week briefVanguard soccer star is named Lion of the Week.Vanguard University junior women’s soccer forward Heather Hutton is the latest Lion of the Week, as selected by the school’s athletic department.

Hutton scored the winning goal in a 1-0 triumph over Westmont Oct. 11. The win was the Lions’ first against the Warriors, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA. It snapped an 18-game losing streak to Westmont.

Going into Saturday’s game against Hope International, Hutton led the Lions (8-5-1, 3-3-1 in the Golden State Athletic Conference) with 23 points (eight goals and a team-high seven assists).

Previously, freshman men’s soccer goalkeeper William Johnson was named Lion of the Week after posting back-to-back shutouts.

Johnson made eight saves in a 1-0 win Oct. 8 over No. 15-ranked Azusa Pacific, then had four saves in a 1-0 win over Westmont Oct. 12.200510236A1K6B1VNo Caption
