Citizens for Quality Schools has attracted a quarter of a million dollars in support of the new school bond. The campaign for Measure F has exceeded $125,000 in cash donations, according to a finance report filed Thursday with the Orange County Registrar of Voters.

As of Oct. 25, Citizens for Quality Schools -- a grass-roots campaign formed to support the $282-million Measure F school bond -- had logged $125,280 in funds from corporations, attorneys and residents. The total is nearly five times the amount from the group’s last finance report, filed at the end of September.

The contributions to Measure F have risen steadily as the voting day approaches. The bond, which will be the largest in Newport-Mesa history if passed, will appear on the Nov. 8 special election ballot.

“It’s going to work out just fine,” said campaign chairman Mark Buchanan. “We’re counting on some contributions coming through that haven’t arrived yet, but we’re shooting for a budget of about $195,000.”
