Tars clinch league title
IRVINE -- The Newport Harbor High girls’ tennis team completed an unbeaten Sea View League championship season by trouncing Irvine, 17-1, Monday to improve to 14-2, 10-0 in league.
It is the third straight league crown for the Sailors, who shared the title last season and were outright champions in 2003.
Sasha Dunlap and Chrissy Schwartz swept in doubles to finish 22-2 against league foes. Megan McKay won all 18 games at No. 1 singles.
Sage Hill 16, St. Margaret’s 2
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO -- The Lightning clinched the Academy League title as singles players Ashley Adams and Sarah Geocaris both won all 18 games Monday.
Sage Hill (16-3, 11-0 in league), ranked No. 1 in CIF Southern Section Division V, handed St. Margaret’s (17-2, 10-2), ranked No. 7 in CIF Division V, its only two losses. The Lightning also won the first meeting, 16-2.

Beckman 8
IRVINE -- Kelly McKitterick, Danielle Kaiden and Lindsay Zotovich all swept their singles sets without losing a game to lead the Sea Kings past Beckman in a Pacific Coast League contest Monday.
The doubles team of Haley and Miranda Young swept their sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, as CdM improved to 16-3, 10-1 in league.
Golden West League finals
HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Estancia High’s Ellie Edles, the No. 2 seed, along with Costa Mesa No. 4 seed Evelyn Wallace, advanced to the singles semifinals of the Golden West League finals following victories Monday at Ocean View High.
Edles, who swept her sets, 6-0, 6-1, and, 6-0, 6-0, in her first-round and quarterfinal matches, respectively, will face sixth-seeded Angela Konno from Westminster in a semifinal matchup at 1 p.m.Wallace will play in the other semifinal match against top-seeded Melissa Cecil from Ocean View.
In the doubles draw, the top-seeded Estancia tandem of Sarah Muradian and Krizia Tonin advanced to the semifinal round and will play a duo from Orange.
Estancia’s second-seeded team of Cathy Pittman and Sage O’Toole had to halt its quarterfinal match against a fifth-seeded duo from Westminster due to darkness.
The Westminster team was leading, 6-4, 4-2. The match will be resumed today.
GIRLS’ GOLF
Pacific Coast League finals
CHINO -- Corona del Mar High’s Katie McKitterick and Michelle Rucker are third and fourth, respectively, after the first day of the two-day individual tournament Monday at El Prado Golf Course.
McKitterick shot 1-over-par 37 and Rucker shot 39, her best round of the year, Sea Kings Coach Mike Starkweather said. The Sea Kings’ juniors Jonna Kim and Jessica Milner each shot 44 to tie for 11th and make the 16-player cut.
Corona del Mar lost a team playoff Monday with University for the league’s No. 2 spot in the CIF Southern Divisional.
Sea View League finals
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO -- Newport Harbor High’s Kendall Horn shot 22-over-par 93 Monday to advance to today’s final day of the Sea View League individual finals at San Juan Hills Country Club.
Sailors Coach Scott Tarnow said Horn easily made the 18-player cutoff of 100, but she is 14 shots off the lead. Only the top two finishers from the two-day event advance to CIF Southern Section individual competition.
Ali Grace (103), Tiffany Kim (104) and Brittany Phillips (113), also competed for the Sailors.

The Corona del Mar High girls’ tennis team defeated Beckman, 18-0, Monday. It was incorrectly reported as a 10-8 victory for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s Daily Pilot.
