Bid on a bachelor to support charity

Local bachelors from Costa Mesa and Newport Beach will participate in the annual Men with Heart Child Abuse Prevention Center bachelor auction, held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Westin South Coast Plaza, 686 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa.

The winning bid buys a customized date with one of 20 eligible bachelors.

All the proceeds go to the center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing child abuse.

Last year, the event raised more than $40,000.

In addition to the bachelor auction, the evening will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and dancing.

It’s single ladies only until after the auction is over at 9:30 p.m., when men are invited in.

Tickets are $60 in advance and $75 at the door.
