Entering with a 10-0 league record, history could definitely be brewing.

“If everybody runs a solid race, I’d say we’re definitely considered the favorite team,” Lightning Coach Nate Miller said about his girls’ squad.

Sage Hill’s best finish in league on the girls’ side is fourth.

The boys enter today’s race 9-1 in league, with the one loss to Whitney. In two meetings this season, the Lightning and Whitney have split victories.

“I anticipate a highly contested match,” Miller said. “I’m sure they’ll be gunning for us, but I think we’re prepared and I think the team’s pumped for this.”

Sophomore Connor Rose leads the boys’ squad, while sophomore Katie McKeon leads the girls.

Rose, who finished 11th at last year’s league finals, will likely battle with St. Margaret’s Cole Pavlovich for the top spot, Miller said.

McKeon, also considered a favorite, will be looking to defend her title from last year.

The girls’ varsity race is scheduled for 3 p.m., with the boys to follow at 3:45 p.m.
