Newport-Mesa Seahawks 41,

Fountain Valley Jaguars 0: The offensive line consisting of AJ Swies, Aaron White, Zack Beaudin, Adam Kinder, Mario Rosales, Vince Aqueveque, Dakota Gilbert, David Detrick, John Prickett, Tory Morgan and Trent Anderson kept the Jaguar defense at bay. The line opened holes, and allowed quarterback Austin Rios time for a passing attack.

Running backs Drew Diller, Jeff Condino, Buzzy Yokoyama, Sam Barkley and Preston Risser all benefited from the strong play of the offensive line. Diller, Condino, Yokoyama, and Barkley all rushed for scores. In the air, Rios connected with tight end Zack Beaudin on a 30-yard score and wide receiver Matt Mello for a 10-yard touchdown reception.

On defense the Jaguars were stopped. Linebackers, Detrick, Yokoyama, Swies, Risser and Diller halted the Fountain Valley running attack. Defensive backs Blair Luchs, Barkley, Park Eddy, Matt Carlyle, Brecht Vanthof, Mike Markovsky and Mitch Gardner stopped the run and the pass. Cornerback Brecht Vanthof intercepted a deflected pass and returned it down to the Jaguar 1-yard line.

The defensive line, led by Colby Gilly, Jake Ambrose, Bruce Bearer, Luis Sheldon, Swies, Angelo Angiledes, Trent Anderson and Adam Kinder, disrupted the Jaguar offense with penetration, and tackles.

Cerritos Steelers 12,

Newport Mesa Blue Seahawks 7: Behind the blocking of lineman Blake Ollinger, Marcus Champion, William Bright, Hampton Irwin, Sina Sadri, Grant Nutt, Griffin Cribbs, Dane Valdivia, Charlie Padden and Garrett Godber, the Seahawks offensive came alive. Keaton Cablay, Stephen Cureton, Anthony Batista and Chase Davis rushed the Seahawks into the Steelers’ territory and capped the drive with Batista scoring his 10th touchdown of the year.

Defensively, Cablay, Keisean South, Thomas Winkle, Nicholas Sperr, Nicholas Guizan and Curtis McMackin anchored the Seahawks.

Newport Mesa Silver Seahawks 22,

Mona Park Buccaneers 13: On the Seahawk’s opening drive, running back Barrett Barbato ran behind an offensive line led by center Brandon Hauser, guard Alex Fuller and guard Trevor Branca. On fourth-and-five, quarterback Quest Truxton completed a pass to wide receiver Cole Collins. Running back Alex Schwarzenbach rushed to the 1-yard line. On the next play, Truxton scored.

Defensively, Dominic Komadina Sage Fleming, Chad Sheldon, Brian Leguay, Isaiah Davis, and Adam Freeman made strong plays.

The running backs continued to run behind offensive lineman Kobe Benter, Brody Richter, William Somekh, Teddy Somekh and Will Eary. Andrew Holguin made a diving catch to give the Seahawks a 14-7 lead.

AYSO Region 57

Boys under 12 Predators 1, Llamas 0: Goalkeepers Taylor Matteson and Zach Salaam record the shutout for the Predators. Austin Swenson, Max Mulcahy, Tanner Grandstaff, Alexander Greenberg and Chris Weinberg all made key defensive plays. James Valentine led the charge at forward with several key passes.

Predators 1, Blues Brothers 1: Teddy Parks scored from 18 yards out on a centering pass from Chad Arico in the first minute of the second quarter for the Predators’ lone goal against the Blues Brothers. Zach Salaam, Max Mulcahy, Taylor Matteson, Jonathon Iacobelli and Spencer Carey created several scoring opportunities at midfield. Alexander Greenberg and Preston Kim anchored the stingy Predators defense.

Girls under 8

Tigers, Purple Stars: Abigail Klein, Paige Nelson, Alyssa Anderson, and Mackenzie Morsey all scored goals. Tia DiGiovanni posted a great assist. Making defensive plays and turning away scoring attempts were Madeleine Francis, Makena Martin and Lauren Kobayashi.

Girls under 6

Peach Puppies, Purple Pom-Poms: Kendall Fryer and Sophie Habibion scored goals for the Puppies. Caroline Taketa, Sabrina DiGiovanni, Rachel Davis and Kelly Kobayashi made strong plays on the field. Isabella Rhee and Stephanie Beder contributed great passes throughout the game.

Girls under 12

Ligers 1, Blue Crush 0: Bridget Lyons scored the only goal of the match after a crossing pass from Kenzie Ludes late in the second half. The Ligers’ defense of goalkeeper Samantha Brewer and fullbacks Kellie Conant, Elizabeth Gonzales, Kimberly Watanabe and Olivia Ilkcalga were solid. Midfielders Lauren Halle, Kari Kancock, Jamie Searles and forwards Bayley Davidson and Hannah Walker all played well.

The Crush’s Anna Newman and Sara Bradbury provided many scoring opportunities. Defensively, goalkeeper Tiara Landrigan made two late saves.

Dill Pickles 5, Blue Dolphins 2: Erin Hinkleman scored twice and Bailey McDaniel, Maddie Shepherd, Hannah Roman, all added goals. Strong midfield play by Caroline Graham, Allison Sheppard, Kristina Miller, Isabel Mohr and Jessica Govorko contributed to the win. Alex Kehoe, Christiana DuPont, and Madyson Avery kept the game in check by providing strong defense.

Bad News Butterflies 5, Strikers 1: Katty Ayala and Page Keys scored two goals apiece, and Maddie Grant scored the final goal with a kick over the Strikers goalkeeper’s head. Nicole Perrier and Kelly Torres added assists. Sarah Hamilton, Christina Lugo, Kendall Walker, Jamie Darling, and goalkeeper Maddie Erdossy protected the backfield.

Boys under 12 Zesty Mustards 6, Dominators 0: Kyle Singer scored three goals to lead the Mustards. Kyle Regan, Arturo Navaro and Ryan Scorth each added scores in the contest. Goalkeepers Tyler Machado and Teddy Barry shutout the Dominators. Hollin Alhart, Ryan Cerrato, Tynan Yanaga, Max Phillips and Kevin Oswalt provided strong defensive support. Midfield was handled by the group of Ayrton Logan, Izaak Lofgren and Kevin Rakestraw.

Girls under 10

Crazy Eights 3, Spongebobs1: Reo Nathan scored twice and Analysa Vivanco added a score. Brooke Meer, Kellie Melendres and Jenna Jarvis started on defense. Rachel Whitelegge, Alex Vasquez, Julia Frei, Mackenzie Gaddis, and Riley Rickman played well on offense.

Surfer Chicks 2, Cotton Candy Crew 0: The Crew’s defense of fullbacks Evelyn Stephans, Erin Barth and sweeper Libby Knight played a strong game supporting goalkeepers Taylor Kalatschan. Rachel DiGiambattista, Cassidy Davis, Kenya Avilia, Natalie Ward, and Nadine Lefler gave the Crew many scoring opportunities.

Surfer Chick goalkeeper Carlee Kapana made 15 saves in the shutout.

People Eaters 4, Slimers 1: Makayla Swies scored twice, and Mallory Gyulay and Kathryn De La Torre each added scores. Leah Van Dyke, Sammy Ludes, Shoshawna McKinney, Molly Manser and Jaclyn Manderson all made great defensive plays.

Boys under 10 Blue Marlins 5, Arsenal 1: Josh Ford, Byron Gutierrez, Cobi Foster and Michael Schultz all scored for the Marlins. Chris Buchanan, Jonathan Richards, Wills Johnson, Matthew Davila, Jacob Chandler and Bryan Rivera also aided.

Green Geckos 4, Tidal Waves 1: Wil Hinkleman and Riley Gaddis tallied two goals each. Joe Janssen, Charlie Crook, David Esquibel, Adam Armbruster, Peter Conde, and Wil Crook all made good passes. Goalkeepers Antonio Rossi and Patrick Halle each made several saves.

Girls under 8

Pink Piranhas 2, Blue Angels 1: Megan Keys scored the lone Angels goal. Karly Kilmer, Lauren Loucks and Delaney Kording all played well offensively. Emily Peschong, Isabella Navarretta and Reilly McVey were stars on defense.

Boys under 8

Blue Crew, Red Hawks: Carson Poivre and Andrew Laidlaw both scored in the match for the Crew. Andrew English, Dante Amodeo, Phil Bradbourne, Morgan Lunsford, Matt Lightner and Jeremiah Sheldonall played great team soccer.

Girls under 7

Sassy Green Dolphins, Purple Polka Dots: Madeline Phillips and Karly Pearson both scored in the game. Annie O’Connor and Claire Tafoya displayed strong goalkeeping. Allison Hanscom, McKenzie Porteous, Abby Sauerborn, Paige Okey and Olivia Dykes played well in the field throughout the game.

Blue Angels, Cheetah Girls: Laura Mackenzie scored the only goal for the Angels. Carol Noeggerath, Lauren Henke and Paula Pedrani headed up the Angel’s defense. Goalkeepers Riley De Castroverde and Jenna Eakin made many stops in the goal. Destry Comp, Siena Amorosso, and Rayna Richardson all played well on offense.

Boys under 7

Bulldogs: The Bulldog’s opposition didn’t show up at the game, so the Bulldogs played their parents and siblings. Nicolas Garcia, Mac Gerkin, Josh Jenkins, Jack McClintock, Cameron Fournier and Christopher Bailey all controlled the ball well on the field. Ashe Deering and Zachary Durham made several good kicks in the contest.

Green Dragons, Blue Sharks: Spencer Neal, Garret Donath, Ben Crawford, Ridge Knutsen, Jack Frederikson and Corbin Joyce all played strong defense for the Dragons. Connor Kincaid scored for the Dragons.

The Sharks received great defensive efforts from P.J. Rollins, P.J. Steiner, Riley Gleason, Curtis Meyer, Mason Morris, Evan Hernandez, Chaz Perry and Antonio Morales.

Black Widows, Blue Sharks: John Shephard, Kevin Garcia, Ronan Ferrentino, Andrew Potter and Teddy Cameron made many great plays and passes. Roger Boehringer, Spencer Amorde and Colin Avary all made impressive kicks.

Flaming Cheetahs, Flaming Tigers: Alex Davis opened the scoring with a well placed goal. Chad Gaitan, Robbie Gehring, Zach Montgomery, Tanner Cislaw, Lukas Ross, and Wells Drayton all had solid games.

Bulldogs, Blue Sharks: Christopher Bailey and Zach Durham both scored for the Bulldogs. The Bulldog defense, led by Max Gerken and Chandler Siemonsma, didn’t allow any more Shark goals. Ashe Deering, Nicolas Garcia and Jack McClintock played well on the field for the Bulldogs.

Black Widows, Fire Dragons: Ronan Ferrentino, Colin Avary and John Shepard showed solid running and kicking skills. Roger Boehringer, Teddy Cameron and Andrew Potter assisted actively.

Girls under 6

Fairytales Girls, Kitties: Goals were scored by Kayla Brockman, Jordan Golden, Yva Nadeau and Rochelle Trujillo for the Fairytales. Breanna Contreras and Camille Baron played well on defense.

Boys under 6

Goblins, Bulldogs: Gates Johnson and Seth Roberts scored goals for the Goblins. The Goblins also scored on a team effort by Tommy Manley, Josh Gehlke, Jake Thomas and Vincent Rubino.

Green Bulldogs vs. Green Dragons: Bulldogs Sam Lohr and Ben Zehnder both scored. Jack Brennan contributed an assist. On defense, Ian McKasson, Joe Skinner, Cameron Hanson and Billy Shannon all played solid offense.

Goblins, Stingrays: Cole McFetters scored six goals to lead the Goblins. Jake Thomas added two goals and Vincent Rubino added another score. Gates Johnson, Seth Roberts, Tommy Manly and Josh Gehlke led a strong Goblin defense.

Boys under 5

Green Goblins, King Cobras: Lucas Baia, James McConnaughey ,Bennett Ward and Dane Boehringer all had good games for the Goblins.

Girls under 10

Killer Bees 3, California Ducks 3: Megan Simonds-Oliver scored two goals, and Madison Caffey added one. Gracie Dimond, Lisa Picado, Brooke Allen, Beatrice Maradiaga, Olivia Warner, Danielle Brodeur and Ciara Gobel all provided strong offensive support in the match. Keepers Shannon Curran and Madison Caffey were strong in the net.

Girls under 5

Purple Petunias, Pink Panthers: Lilli Rask and Allison O’Heany played well on offense for the Petunias. Defensively Sofia Palma, Katie Walburger and Alexis Lemus guarded the Panthers forwards.

Boys under 5

Raging Rhinos, Hot Stone Rocks: Kelly Austin scored two goals for the Rhinos, and Mathew Carabal tallied an additional goal. Mathieu Guyot had an amazing assist that helped the Rhinos hit the net. On defense, Kevin Johnson, Nathan Guyot and Jacob Carabal all played well.

Girls under 10

Irvine Lasers 2, United Football Club 1: Goalkeeper Tara Terpening limited United to only one goal. Madison Glaser and Alexis Muniz added early goals, while Maren Martinez and Francesca Ricapito assisted. The defense of Janna Purcell, Courtney Lang, Ricapito and Samantha Sandzimier applied pressure.
