Orange Dolphins cruise past Panthers

Huntington Beach ends regular season with 20-6 victory.The Huntington Beach Orange Dolphins ended their regular season Saturday with an impressive 20-6 victory over the Corona Panthers in a Jr. All-American Football Clinic Division contest.

There were several first-quarter highlights for the Orange Dolphins. The first was a fumble recovery by Clint Jack, followed by a touchdown run by Stone Escobedo. Nick Tricarico also came up with a fumble recovery, which led to a touchdown run by Dustin Stewart and extra point by Jordan Palomino.

The Orange Dolphins struck quickly in the second half when Matt Oakley scored on a 45-yard run. An interception by Brad Dominick and defensive charges by Lester Adams and Katin Pavalko kept Corona off the scoreboard in the second half.

Lucas Jeffries, Grant Lowman and Matt Patterson opened big holes along the offensive line for Huntington. Tricarico, Oakley, Escobedo and Matt Patterson were selected to the Clinic Division All-Conference team.

The Clinic Orange Dolphins will begin playoff action Saturday when they travel to Baldwin Hills for the third time this season to battle the Bruins’ Clinic White team.

Kickoff is set for 9 a.m.

Huntington concluded its regular season with a victory over the Rams.

Javier Sanchez rushed for all three touchdowns for the Dolphins.

He ran for his first score in the second quarter and tacked on two more scores in the fourth quarter. Shane Martinez, Garrett Thornburg, Sean Welsh, C.J. Jackson, Evan Gray, Trevor Entwhistle, Drake Williamson, Gavin Pappagalo, Cade Siegriest and Jimmy Meehan all made key contributions for the Dolphins.

Huntington will play its postseason bowl game Saturday.

Despite suffering a one-sided loss in its regular season finale, Huntington will take on Fountain Valley Saturday in playoff action at Inglewood.

Orange Dolphins selected to the Jr. Pee Wee All-Conference team include defensive lineman Vincent Dugard, offensive lineman Dane Perkins, offensive back Damien Williamson and defensive back Brandon Wooten.
