Clean sweep for CdM girls

ORANGE -- The Corona del Mar High girls’ cross country team boasted the top five finishers and had a perfect score of 15 in the Pacific Coast League cross country finals at Irvine Regional Park on Thursday.

Annie St. Geme took first place at 17 minutes, 2 seconds, followed by teammates Sarah Cummings (17:14), Shelby Buckley (17:15), Allison Damon (17:44) and Nicole Slykhous (18:08).

The Sea Kings boys were also victorious with 34 points, edging Laguna Beach (52). Tim Scott led the way with a second-place time of 15:17, Tommy Hutchison was sixth (15:39), Jack Turner took seventh (15:51) and Brian Licorish (15:53) finished ninth.

Corona del Mar’s top seven, which also included Kenneth Wong, Ryan Guthrie and Thomas Dialynas, all finished in the top 13.

Glendora 1

GLENDORA -- Newport Harbor won on the road in a Los Angeles Field Hockey Assn. Tournament of Champions semifinal.

Sienna Palmer scored in the ninth minute, with an assist by Lara Schilling. Alex Conley scored the eventual game winner unassisted later in the half.

The Tars will play in their sixth straight Tournament of Champions title game Tuesday night against Marina. The championship will be played at either Westminster High or the Home Depot Center in Carson.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Sage Hill def. Whitney

CERRITOS -- Sage Hill clinched a share of the Academy League title by defeating Whitney, 25-5, 25-11, 25-16, Thursday night.

Haywood Wright had 13 kills and Cat Dailey added nine kills for Sage Hill (13-1, 9-1 in league), which tied with St. Margaret’s for first place. A coin flip today will determine who goes to the playoffs as the league’s first-place team.

Laguna Hills

NEWPORT BEACH -- The Sea View League champion Sailors finished with a 10-0 league record after winning, 25-21, 26-24, 25-22, Thursday night.

Megan Toman led the way with 12 kills, Megan Munce tallied 11 kills and six digs, and Bryana Carey added eight kills and four aces.

Newport Harbor (20-7 overall) concludes the regular season by hosting Corona del Mar today at 5:30 p.m. for the city title.

NEWPORT BEACH -- The Sea Kings fell to the Trojans, 25-17, 18-25, 25-18, 25-22, in their Pacific Coast League finale Thursday. Marisa Scott led the way with 16 digs, Kasey Kipp tallied nine kills and four blocks, and Brooke Terry added 16 assists.

Corona del Mar fell to 6-7 in the Pacific Coast League.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Sage Hill 16, Los Amigos 10

CORONA DEL MAR -- Julian Tooma scored a game-high seven goals as the Lightning rolled to a nonleague victory.

Chris Mazzo chipped in with four goals and Danny Harold recorded seven saves in goal.
