OCC keeps unbeaten string

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College’s women’s volleyball team swept Golden West, 30-16, 30-28, 30-17, in an Orange Empire Conference match Wednesday night.

It was the first time the Pirates (18-0, 12-0 in conference), ranked No. 2 in the state, had swept Golden West in a match since 1978.

Kiwi Winkler finished with 13 kills and 18 digs, and Brittney Ray chipped in with 10 kills, 12 digs and three aces.

IRVINE -- Brad Evans scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season in the Anteaters’ upset of the 22nd-ranked Matadors.

Cameron Dunn and Scott Shiraishi added assists for the Anteaters (11-5-3, 7-1-1 in conference).
