Sandpiper dusts off Ganahl Lumber

A 12-2 victory keeps team unbeaten at 4-0.Sandpiper remained the lone unbeaten team in the city of Laguna Beach Community Service Department’s men’s fall 16-inch slow-pitch softball program by defeating Ganahl Lumber, 12-2, in Tuesday League play at Riddle Field.

A 15-hit attack was paced by Steve Laverty, who had a solo home run and three singles; Art Johnson with four singles; Sean Brown with a double and home run; and Mica Brown with a home run, single and four RBI.

The win improved Sandpiper’s record to 4-0.

Robert Bonn homered and singled for Ganahl Lumber.

In other Tuesday League action:

Team Viagra 4, C-Dawgs 1

Team Viagra’s third consecutive victory kept the squad one game behind Sandpiper in the league standings.

Winning pitcher David Mulvaney scattered nine singles, two going to Pat Alexander.

Team Viagra, which managed eight hits, won the game in the second inning on solo home runs by Teo Moore and Mike McKenzie. Moore also added a double in the sixth inning, and Jerod Molner singled twice.

Red Rum 11, DUI Fighters 8

Traves Wood drove in four runs behind two solo home runs and a single as Red Rum won its second-straight game.

Teammate Ryan Divel added a home run and single.

DUI Fighters leadoff batter Josh Stock hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning, and Mica Brown singled three times.

Tuesday League standings:

1. Sandpiper, 4-0; 2. Team Viagra, 3-1; 3T. Ganahl Lumber, Red Rum, 2-2; 5. DUI Fighters, 1-3; 6. C-Dawgs, 0-4.

In Thursday League action:

Compound Fractures 8, Hamstrings 6

David Strong and William Maniaci each drove in three runs to power the Compound Fractures past the Hamstrings.

Strong drove in runs with a double, single and sacrifice fly, and Maniaci tripled and hit into a fielder’s choice to drive home his three runs.

For the Hamstrings, Rob Malone hit a solo home run in the second inning; back-to-back home runs followed in the fifth, one a three-run shot by Vick Forreira the other a solo homer by Mike Wallace.

Puswatrkylegs 15, Pancakes 1

The Puswatrkylegs got their 15 runs on hits in pounding the Pancakes.

Terry Milliken had two hits and four RBI, Vince Marconi tripled and singled twice and Jesse Westgaard limited the Pancakes to six singles.

Adam Dalporto had two singles for the Pancakes.

Courtesy Auto Body 11, Hotwings 8

The bat of Steve McMillan accounted for six of Courtesy Auto Body’s 11 runs in the victory.

McMillan delivered a grand slam in the second inning and later hit a two-run homer in the fourth.

Trigg Garner hit a home run, double and single to drive in four runs, and Beau Bianchi singled four times.
