Journalist and best-selling author Bill Moyers will present “Moyers on America,” a discussion of the American political and social landscape as well as his own life and career.

A former assistant to President Lyndon Johnson and publisher of Newsday, Moyers also served as senior correspondent for CBS News and anchored “NOW with Bill Moyers” on public television.

Moyers will speak at the Barclay, located at 4199 Campus Drive, UC Irvine, at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free, but call (949) 854-4646 for reservations.

The Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County is hosting a meet-the-candidates night Monday for those running in the 48th Congressional District race.

The free event begins at 7 p.m. at 1 Federation Way in Irvine. The educational forum will allow voters to hear the views of the candidates and ask questions. For more information, call (949) 435-3400, ext. 397.

UC Irvine is co-sponsoring a forum Tuesday for the candidates. The moderator will pose questions on preselected topics, and audience members will submit questions to the politicians. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Irvine City Hall, 1 Civic Center Plaza.
