college roundup for MondayGOLETA -- The UC Irvine men’s water polo team clinched the No. 2 seed in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament with a 9-7 conference win at UC Santa Barbara Sunday.

Senior Nate White and junior Tim Hutten scored three goals each for the No. 4-ranked Anteaters (17-10, 6-2 in the MPSF).

UCI, on a five game winning steak, will face No. 7-seeded University of the Pacific in the quarterfinals of the MPSF Tournament, Friday at 1 p.m. at USC.

UCSB fell to 13-17, 0-8.
