OCC women take bite out of Citrus, 72-45
GLENDORA -- Laurie Denning and Madison Parks formed an odd couple, each scoring 15 points as Orange Coast College rolled to a 72-45 nonconference women’s basketball victory over Citrus College on Tuesday night.
Parks -- a 6-foot-3 forward -- nearly had a double-double in the first half, with 10 points and nine rebounds, and finished with 12 rebounds to go with her 15 points. Denning -- a 5-4 guard -- added six rebounds and four assists to go with her scoring, connecting on two of three three-pointers.
Orange Coast (5-1), ranked No. 9 in Southern California, pulled away in the second half, shooting 52% from the field and outscoring the host Owls, 41-20.
Jillian Ricks, Valerie Katayama and Crystal McCormick each added eight points for the Pirates.
JaTonn Parham led Citrus (2-3) with 11 points, four rebounds and three blocks.
The Pirates’ next game is Saturday at Grossmont College.
