Newport Harbor High’s Jackie Taylor was named the Sunset League’s defensive most valuable player, Sailors Coach Piper Phillips said.

Taylor helped lead Newport Harbor to its sixth consecutive Los Angeles Field Hockey Assn. Tournament of Champions final. The Sailors lost, 3-1, to Marina for the second consecutive year in the championship.

The Sailors also had five all-Sunset League selections. Seniors Sasha Grumman and Ashton Ries, and junior Rachel Foster made the all-league first team. Seniors Danica Kalmbach and Darci Pennington were second-team selections.
