CHINO HILLS -- Senior Tracy Bjelland scored 22 points and junior Nikki Brannon added 11 points and 11 rebounds to help the Costa Mesa High girls’ basketball team prevail over Pomona Catholic, 65-28, in the second round of pool play Thursday at the Chino Hills Tournament.

Bjelland added seven rebounds, four assists and two steals for the winners (2-0), who received seven points, seven rebounds and five assists from Bethany Vergara.

Mesa meets Chino Hills in the pool-play finale tonight at 7:30 for the right to advance to Saturday’s championship game.
