Hoops tourney at Ocean View

13 teams to compete in premiere event.The 2005 Ocean View Tournament of Champions, one of the Southland’s premiere boys’ basketball tournaments, begins with opening-round action Monday at Ocean View High.

Thirteen teams will be split into four pools. Schools competing are host Ocean View, Fontana and L.A. City Section member Birmingham, in Pool A; J. Serra, Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks and Torrance in Pool B; Harvard-Westlake, Long Beach Poly and L.A. City Section member Cleveland, in Pool C; and Northern Section member Clovis West, Cajon, Centennial of Corona and Temecula Valley, in Pool D.

The tournament ends on Dec. 17.

The tournament schedule is as follows for Dec. 12, 13 and 14:

Monday

3:30 p.m.: Ocean View vs. Fontana

5 p.m.: J. Serra vs. Notre Dame

6:30 p.m.: Harvard-Westlake vs. Long Beach Poly

8 p.m.: Centennial vs. Temecula Valley

Tuesday

3:30 p.m.: Notre Dame vs. Torrance

5 p.m.: Fontana vs. Birmingham

6:30 p.m.: Long Beach Poly vs. Cleveland

8 p.m.: Clovis West vs. Cajon

Wednesday

5 p.m.: Harvard-Westlake vs. Cleveland

6:30 p.m.: Ocean View vs. Birmingham

8 p.m.: J. Serra vs. Torrance

Sat., Dec. 17 2:30 p.m.: seventh-place game

4 p.m.: fifth-place game

5:30 p.m.: third-place game
