Lineback dominates mat

ANAHEIM -- Corona del Mar High wrestler Scott Lineback won the 215-pound weight class at the Esperanza junior varsity tournament on Saturday.

Lineback won all of his matches without having a point scored against him.

Anthony Rosencarntz reached the semifinals of the 187-pound weight class for Corona del Mar.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

* Newport Harbor’s junior varsity team blanked University, 15-0, in a nonleague match on Friday. The Sailors’ frosh-soph squad also scored a lopsided 18-1 victory over University.

Both teams are 2-0 this season.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

* The Corona del Mar junior varsity team defeated Newport Harbor, 33-32, on Dec. 2.

Newport Harbor had leads of five points at the half and 11 points after three quarters, but Corona del Mar outscored the Sailors, 16-4, in the fourth quarter.

Elle Luce had eight points in the fourth quarter and 16 points overall to lead the Sea Kings, and Sami Stern added seven points. Allie Childs and Jessica Brockett led the defense, which keyed the comeback.
